Porcelain Fillings (Inlay/Onlay)
Porcelain fillings are ceramic fillings specially prepared in a dental laboratory for repairing damage caused by large cavities or old fillings. Unlike traditional fillings, porcelain fillings are produced in one piece and perfectly restore the missing part of the tooth.
Advantages of Porcelain Fillings
- High Aesthetics: Thanks to the structure of porcelain that matches the natural color of teeth, the filling is not noticeable.
- Durability: It is much more durable and long-lasting compared to composite fillings.
- Perfect Fit: Minimizes the risk of marginal leakage because it is specially prepared to fit perfectly to the remaining healthy tissue of the tooth.
- Hygiene: Its smooth surface resists plaque buildup and is easy to clean.
Treatment Process
First Appointment:
The dentist cleans out the decayed or damaged tissue. Then, a precise measurement of the remaining tooth structure is taken. This measurement is used to prepare the filling in the laboratory. A temporary filling is placed to protect the tooth.
Laboratory Stage:
Based on the tooth's measurements, a porcelain filling (inlay or onlay) is prepared using advanced technologies such as CAD/CAM.
Second Appointment:
The porcelain filling from the lab is permanently bonded to your tooth using a special adhesive, and final checks are performed.
Porcelain fillings offer an aesthetic and durable solution that preserves the structure of the tooth and extends its lifespan in cases where a large portion of the tooth is damaged.
